Cosmological Implications of Large-scale Flows
Cosmological implications of the observed large-scale peculiar velocities are reviewed, alone or combined with redshift surveys and CMB data. The latest version of the POTENT method for reconstructing the underlying three-dimensional velocity and mass-density fields is described. The initial fluctuations and the nature of the dark matter are addressed via statistics such as bulk flow and mass p...
متن کاملLarge-scale Flows as a Cosmological Probe
We review the use of peculiar velocities of galaxies as a probe of cosmological models. We put particular emphasis on comparison of the peculiar velocity and density fields, focussing on the discrepancies between various recent analyses. We discuss the limitations of the commonly used linear bias model, which may lie at the heart of some of the current controversies in the field.
متن کاملCosmological parameter estimation with large scale structure and supernovae data
Most cosmological parameter estimations are based on the same set of observations and are therefore not independent. Here, we test the consistency of parameter estimations using a combination of large-scale structure and supernovae data, without cosmic microwave background (CMB) data. We combine observations from the IRAS 1.2 Jy and Las Campanas redshift surveys, galaxy peculiar velocities and ...
متن کاملCosmological parameter constraints from SDSS luminous red galaxies : a new treatment of large - scale clustering .
We apply a new model for the spherically averaged correlation function at large pair separations to the measurement of the clustering of luminous red galaxies (LRGs) made from the SDSS by Cabre & Gaztañaga (2009a). Our model takes into account the form of the BAO peak and the large scale shape of the correlation function. We perform a Monte Carlo Markov chain analysis for different combinations...
